چکیده
The inherently low surface energy of carbon fibre reinforced Polyether-ether-ketone (CF/PEEK) composites results in an extremely compatibility with adhesives. This subsequently causes significant challenges the adhesive joining them to other dissimilar materials. Herein, bonding surfaces CF/PEEK were treated by a high-power UV-irradiation technique prior bonding, attempt develop hybrid composite-to-aluminium joints excellent fracture resistance. mode-I, mode-II and mix-mode behaviour CF/PEEK-to-aluminium bonded two commercial aerospace adhesives was evaluated. Cohesive failure within layers or substrate damage observed all cases. indicated that adhesion between sufficient prevent at composite/adhesive interfaces under different modes. study explored effective route strong tough for applications. Additionally, it revealed form supporting carrier key factor affecting energies joints.

Fatigue behaviour of composite adhesive lap joints
This paper is concerned with a fatigue study of composite adhesive lap joints produced from a bi-directional woven E-glass fibres and polypropylene. The adhesive used was a Bostik 7452 (Rubber & Plastics Grade) ethyl cyanoacrylate type. The effects of layer orientation, lap joint length and water immersion on the fatigue behaviour were studied. The specimens were immersed in water during period...
متن کاملEffect of Bond Thickness on Fracture Behaviour in Adhesive Joints
(2001) Effect of bond thickness on fracture behaviour in adhesive joints. To study the effects of bond thickness on the fracture behaviour of adhesive joints, experimental investigation and finite element analysis have been carried out for compact tension (CT) and double-cantilever-beam (DCB) specimens with different bond thickness. Fractography and fracture toughness exhibited apparent variati...
متن کاملReconstruction of frontal bone using specific implant polyether-ether-ketone.
Defects on the craniofacial complex may result in aesthetic defects, functional damage, and psychologic consequences. Previously, surgeons showed no interest in reconstructing the operated area, but in the treatment of the problem, leaving bone contour is a secondary issue. Nowadays, area reconstruction with post-reestablishment of contour and local shape has become one of the surgeon's priorit...
متن کاملLocal deformation behavior of surface porous polyether-ether-ketone.
Surface porous polyether-ether-ketone has the ability to maintain the tensile monotonic and cyclic strength necessary for many load bearing orthopedic applications while providing a surface that facilitates bone ingrowth; however, the relevant deformation behavior of the pore architecture in response to various loading conditions is not yet fully characterized or understood. The focus of this s...
متن کاملThe Effects of Pre-bond Moisture on the Fracture Behaviour of Adhesively-bonded Composite Joints
The results of an investigation into the effects of pre-bond moisture absorbed by fibrecomposite substrates prior to bonding with various structural epoxy adhesives are presented. Substrates were bonded in the as-received condition (where substrates had been exposed to atmospheric moisture for periods of greater than three months) and were also bonded in the fully-dried condition (after drying ...
